BWS: Making repairs to affected water supplies across the country

But this week’s flooding has caused some issues. In Benque Viejo, a line from a spring was washed away despite being rebuilt 10 feet higher than its original position when it was destroyed in flooding in 2008.

Pumps for supply along the river in San Ignacio also had to be replaced, as well as the station in Belmopan, where water had to be turned off. Villages along the George Price Highway are getting water from well sources.

BWS is assisting with cleaning water from the runway at the International Airport, where there will be no flights today. International flights will resume tomorrow.

Southern water supply has held up except for a brief interruption in Dangriga.

The company says it will need about $700,000 for repairs.
