Two COVID-19 deaths on Sunday, both from the North

By BBN Staff: There are two COVID-19 deaths reported today, bringing the total COVID-19 related deaths to 70. 

The first victim is a 66-year-old male with a history of obesity, diabetes, and hypertension. He had been ill at home and had not sought medical care. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Northern Regional Hospital. The other person is a 25-year-old male, from Corozal. He sought medical care in a private hospital.

With these 2 deaths today, the case fatality rate is now 1.68%.

The Ministry of Health reports that there are currently 4 intubated patients at Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital’s (KHMH’s) COVID Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The private sector also has 2 confirmed cases hospitalized, including one of our Government’s own health care workers. In addition, there is also a highly suspect case at a private institution in Belize City, also intubated.
