By BBN Staff: The clinical trial for a Chinese COVID-19 vaccine in Brazil has been suspended after health officials reported a ‘severe adverse’ incident, the BBC reports.
The vaccine, CoronaVac developed by Chinese firm Sinovac Biotech is one of a few in the final state of testing around the world.
The firm has since said that it is confident in the safety of the vaccine.
The trial was suspended but the authorities did not reveal the nature of the incident that occurred.
Final stage trials for the same vaccine is also being conducted in Indonesia and Turkey.
Local media reports that the suspension was related to a death, however, that the death was not related to the vaccine, Reuters reported.
