By Aaron Humes: United Democratic Party leader and outgoing Minister of Education Patrick Faber says he considers public allegations that he bartered sex for scholarships as baseless, and hopes the Belizean electorate see it that way too.
A series of explicit photographs and text message conversations released a few days ago along with anonymous testimony implied that Faber demanded that a woman sleep with him to get a scholarship.
Faber bluntly denied the charges, saying they were timed to effect the outcome of Wednesday’s election but that he would lend them no credence whatsoever.
Faber said he condemned that type of politics and suggested the Opposition had something to do with the release, which they have denied.
