By Aaron Humes: Approximately 81.23 percent of registered voters turned out to vote in today’s general elections according to the Election and Boundaries Department.
According to election officials, turnout was boosted in the early going countrywide by voters determined to get it over with to avoid COVID-19.
Numbers decreased after lunchtime before the usual late surge in the evening.
As of the 8 p.m. hour, counting is officially underway across the country although unofficial results and trends are being announced by the various television teams based on information received from inside the counting stations before counting officially got underway.
