Minor murdered in Cayo on election night

By BBN Staff: Last night, while the majority of the country was focused on the election results, police found the body of a male minor, 16, who had been murdered.

A special constable on his way to San Ignacio said that he was approximately 200 yards from the San Ignacio Community Hospital when he saw the motionless body of a dark-skinned person.

Other officers responded to the scene and the body was taken to the hospital where it was pronounced dead on arrival. Police identified the victim as Gregory Lewis, of San Ignacio Town.

During initial searches of the crime scene, police found 12 .9mm expended shells.

Investigations are ongoing.
