Nurses Association blasts Ministry of Health over COVID-19 relief funds

By BBN Staff: The Nurses Association of Belize (NAB) is calling on the Ministry of Health to urgently address a concern regarding how COVID-19 relief assistance funds have been distributed to Ministry staff.

The NAB noted, with great displeasure, that supervisors and office staff who have had no direct contact with COVID-19 patients have been getting COVID-19 relief assistance.

“This is a total insult to the hardworking personnel on the frontline,” the association said. “Even more shameful is that some staff members who have contracted the disease from working in with the COVID-19 program have not gotten the assistance.”

The association said that it reached out to the heads of the Ministry, but have not gotten any response.
