United States Congratulates Belize on Successful Elections

By BBN Staff: Today, adding to a long list of entities issuing congratulations, the United States congratulated John Briceño and the People’s United Party on their election victory.

The U.S. Embassy in Belmopan issued a statement today saying that it stands ready to work with Prime Minister Briceño and his new government on shared priorities.

“Our shared commitment to regional security, economic prosperity, and good governance is more important today than ever,” stated U.S. Embassy Belmopan Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Keith Gilges. “We look forward to achieving these goals together with the new administration. We commend the people of Belize for upholding the democratic heritage of the hemisphere.”

The Embassy also commends the people of Belize Belizean on holding open and transparent national elections, saying that it represents a model for the region.
