By Aaron Humes: Friday the 13th is well-associated with bad luck and this particular Friday has been the deadliest day ever for COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic in Belize.

Ten deaths, according to the Director of Health Services, have been reported across four districts: 8 men and two women.

Three men from Corozal died, with ages ranging from their late fifties to eighties to nineties.

In Orange Walk, two men in their sixties passed as well as a female in her late forties.

A nonagenarian and a female in her fifties died in Cayo and a male in his sixties died in Belize City.

Three persons died at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital’s COVID-19 unit, the others died either at the community/regional hospitals or were pronounced dead on arrival at public health facilities.

The national case fatality rate is now 1.86%.
