The total voter turnout was 81.86%.
Chargé d’ Affaires of the United States in Belize, Keith Gilges said in a statement on social media that Belize is a model of democracy for the region.
“The U.S., Taiwan, & Belize are friends & partners, so we were honored to show our support for democracy & shared values through our election monitoring efforts yesterday along with my dear friend Ambassador Remus Chen of @TW_Belize. Belize is a model of democracy for the region,” Gilges stated.
The new Prime Minister, John Briceno was sworn into office on Thursday, November 12, 2020.
