UDP confirms Saldivar COVID-19 diagnosis

By Aaron Humes: Leader of the Opposition, Patrick Faber, confirmed with our colleagues at Plus News this afternoon that former Belmopan Area Representative John Saldivar and his wife are both hospitalized with COVID-19 symptoms.

Faber, speaking at the Belize House following his swearing in this afternoon, indicated that after receiving the reports earlier today he tried contacting Saldivar by phone but was unsuccessful. He says that he was able to confirm the information independently at today’s swearing ceremony, and that he would be following up on Saldivar’s condition.

The men claim to be friends but were competitive rivals leading up to national leadership conventions held in February (won by Saldivar) and July (won by Faber).
