Three more deaths due to COVID-19; males dying at more than twice the rate of females

By BBN Staff: The death rate of males in Belize due to COVID-19 continues to be a staggering statistic with males dying at more than twice the rate of females. Yesterday the Ministry of Health reported that 10 person died of the virus; today another 3 persons, all males, succumbed to COVID-19 complications.

Two (2) of the patients who died are from Orange Walk and one is from Belize City. One patient was in his 40s, one in his 60s and one in his 70s.The novel coronavirus has now claimed the lives of 63 males and 25 females.

With a total of 88 deaths nationwide, Belize’s case fatality rate has climbed to 1.84%.

There were 25 recovered cases reported today, leaving 2,131 or 44.6% of cases active.
