By BBN Staff: The COVID-19 death toll continues to increase in Belize and is inching towards 100, with 13 more deaths associated with the virus recorded for the weekend so far.
On Friday, Belize saw its deadliest COVID-19 day, with 10 deaths reported in a 24-hour span. On Saturday, another 3 people lost their lives to COVID-19.
Data from the Ministry of Health (MOH) shows that the total number of deaths now stands at 88, and the fatality rate went up to 1.84 percent.
Men continue to die from the virus at more than double the rate of females, with 63 males dying from COVID-19 as opposed to 25 females.
The oldest patient to die from COVID-19 was in his 70’s while the youngest patient to die from the virus was a six-year-old boy.
The MOH is expected to release an update on the national COVID-19 situation later today.
