By BBN Staff: The National Meteorological Service of Belize (Belize Met Service) says that the cloudy spells, showers, and high winds brought on by a relatively moist northeasterly airflow are expected to start deteriorating within the next 24 hours.
The 24-hour forecast calls for sunny skies with a few cloudy spells today and cloudy at times tonight. Showers and thunderstorms will be isolated with a few more inland and south this afternoon; then mainly over southern, some coastal, and offshore areas tonight.
“A flood warning remains in effect for communities in the Belize district due to downstream river levels rising. A flood watch is in effect for the Cayo, Stann Creek, and Toledo districts, for the possibility of flooding with increasing rainfall this week,” the Met Service said.
Today’s temperature highs will range from 86 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, to 86 degrees Fahrenheit inland, and 70 degrees Fahrenheit in the hills. Tonight’s temperature lows will range from 74 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, to 70 degrees Fahrenheit inland, and 66 degrees Fahrenheit in the hills.
Winds will be blowing North-Northeast between 10-20 knots, becoming gusty and blowing at 15-25 knots. The sea state will be choppy becoming rough-very rough.
“A small craft warning will likely go into effect later today. Operators of small crafts are advised to start preparing for their crafts to remain in safe harbor,” the Met Service added.
High tide will come in at 11:14 a.m. and low tide will begin at 4:20 p.m.
The sun will set at 5:16 p.m. and the moon rose today at 7:26 a.m.
