Four more deaths due to COVID-19; 19 deaths in 4 days

By BBN Staff: While some have begun to take COVID-19 pandemic lightly, the death toll in Belize continues to rise at an alarming rate with 4 more deaths confirmed by the Ministry of Health today.

Three of the 4 deaths are males and one is a female. Two of the male deaths are from Toledo District and the third is from the Orange Walk in his 70s. The female that died is from the Corozal district.

With these 4 deaths, the total deaths due to, or related with, COVID-19 is now 94, and the Belize’s case fatality rate is now 1.93%.

Across the country of Belize, there are still 2,181 active cases, representing 44.7% of total cases identified. Since almost half of the cases are still active, the case fatality rate in Belize is now expected to surpass 2% in the weeks ahead.
