By Aaron Humes: Category 4 Hurricane Iota continues west toward Nicaragua and Honduras and is expected to make landfall tonight.
Overnight it strengthened to Category 4 with maximum sustained winds of 155 miles per hour and could even reach category 5 status before landfall.
Evacuations are underway for most of the target areas in Nicaragua, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador.
Southern Belize will see between 8 and 16 inches of rain over the next few days, putting a damper on Garifuna Settlement day Celebrations and complicating efforts to recover from the floods caused by Hurricane Eta.
