Two rape investigations underway, one in Dangriga and one involving a Coast Guard in San Ignacio

By BBN Staff: Breaking Belize News (BBN) has confirmed that there are two (2) separate rape investigations underway in Belize.

In San Ignacio, a 26 year old Coast Guard officer is in police custody following an allegation of rape. Details are sketchy but BBN has been informed that the detention is part of the preliminary investigation into the allegations.

The second case being investigated is in Dangriga. Police are still processing the case and have not formally charged anyone.
