By BBN Staff: The National Meteorological Service of Belize (Belize Met Service) says that rainy weather conditions will prevail today as Hurricane iota affects the region.
The 24-hour forecast calls for skies to be cloudy becoming overcast with some showers, periods of rain, and thunderstorms.
“A flood warning remains in effect for communities in the Belize district due to downstream river levels rising. A flood watch is in effect for the Belize, Cayo, Stann Creek, and Toledo districts, for the possibility of flooding with increasing rainfall this week,” the Met Service said.
Today’s temperature highs will range from 80 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, to 80 degrees Fahrenheit inland, and 70 degrees Fahrenheit in the hills. Tonight’s temperature lows will range from 76 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, to 72 degrees Fahrenheit inland, and 64 degrees Fahrenheit in the hills.
Winds will be blowing North-Northeast between 20-30 knots, and the sea state will be very rough.
“A small craft warning is in effect for the coast of Belize. Operators of small crafts are advised to seek safe harbour,,” the Met Service added.
Low tide began at 5:49 a.m. and high tide will come in at 12:04 p.m.
The sun will set at 5:16 p.m. and the moon rose today at 8:32 a.m.
