By BBN Staff: The surge in COVID-19 related deaths continues in Belize with 2 more deaths reported today. The first person to die is a female in her late 50’s from Orange Walk and the second is a male in his 70’s from Belmopan.
Total COVID-19 deaths is now at 96 and by this weekend is expected to reach a major milestone of 100 deaths.
Sixty eight males and 28 females have died so far from the virus, and together represents a case fatality rate of 1.95%. With 2,164 or 43.98% of total cases still active, the case fatality rate in Belize may end up somewhere between 2 and 3%.
There are 52 recoveries today bringing the total recoveries to 2,660 or 54.1% of total cases.
