By BBN Staff: Cahal Pech Village Resort proudly announced this week that it has achieved Gold Standard Certification from the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) and is now welcoming local and international guests.

Cahal Pech officially received its certification on Monday, November 16. The certification means that guests can now enjoy their stay with peace of mind knowing that the resort has implemented world-class safety measures and protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Those measures include but are not limited to social distancing and the use of face masks while in public spaces; online check-in; contactless payment systems, and automated booking; hand sanitizing stations across the property; enhanced room cleaning and increased sanitization of public spaces and high-touch surfaces; daily health checks for guests and employees; designated isolation/quarantine rooms’ for suspected COVID19 cases and action plans for handling employees or guests suspected of being sick.

As a Gold Standard entity, Cahal Pech Resort now operates within the BTB’s “tourism safe corridor,” which is comprised solely of hotels, transportation providers, and tour operators that meet the BTB’s stringent safety protocols.

“In the heart of the scenic Cayo District, this Belize resort is minutes from downtown San Ignacio and the ancient ruins of Cahal Pech. It’s the perfect location for intrepid travelers who want to see Belize at its unspoiled best,” the resort said. “Cahal Pech Village Resort offers everything you need for a perfect stay, including palm-thatched accommodations, fantastic dining, amazing views, three freshwater pools, and adventure tours to the top attractions in the country.

While COVID-19 has changed the way people travel and vacation, Belize remains a prime destination for tourism in the region, earning several accolades from international media in 2020 despite the pandemic.
