By BBN Staff: Carnival Cruise Line, which has previously canceled cruises up to December 2020, has extended its cancellations, with some of them going into March 2021.
Carnival announced on Wednesday that operations for all vessels have been canceled up to January 31, 20201. Sailings out of Baltimore; Charleston, South Carolina.; Jacksonville, Florida; Long Beach, California; Mobile, Alabama.; New Orleans; and San Diego through the end of February, and sailings out of Tampa on the line’s Carnival Legend were canceled through March 26.
The travel site The Points Guy, notes that the announcement comes three weeks after the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) announced a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a road map for a return to cruising in U.S. waters that suggested it could be many months before cruising could resume, emphasizing that nearly all Carnival vessels operate within US waters.
“We are committed to meeting the CDC requirements and keeping our guests and business partners informed of our progress,” explained Carnival president Christine Duffy. “The entire Carnival team appreciates the great support of our guests, travel advisors and business partners, and local officials in our homeports and destinations.”
The news does not bode well for Belize’s tourism industry, which is still trying to recover from massive losses suffered due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
