Floodwaters rising in Burrell Boom

Posted: Sunday, November 22, 2020. 2:30 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Residents of Burrell Boom Village are reporting that floodwaters are rising, making travel in and out of the area difficult.

Photos sent to BBN show the main road just after the bridge taking on lots of water. Reports are that smaller vehicles have shut down trying to make it through and had to be towed.

Motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution in the area.

The National Hydrological Service of Belize (NHSN) and the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) issued a warning yesterday that the Belize District would be receiving floodwaters due to Hurricane Iota and warned residents to be vigilant in the event that they need to evacuate.
