Twenty-two COVID-19 deaths in six days; Belize averaged almost 4 deaths per day

By BBN Staff: Twenty-two Belizeans died from complications related to COVID-19 in the past six days, according to the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW).

The Ministry’s data showed that there were four deaths on Monday, two on Tuesday, four on Wednesday, two on Thursday, five on Friday, and five on Saturday, for an average of 3.6 deaths a day.

The MOHW said that, of the most recent deaths, three of them had been critically ill for days and receiving treatment at the COVID-19 units of the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH). Seven patients remain in critical condition in that unit.

The number of deaths nationally stands at 112. Males continue to die at more than double the rate of females, with 33 of the total deaths being females and 79 of them being males.
