BREAKING: 5 more COVID-19 deaths reported plus 2 successful deliveries to COVID-19 positive patients

By BBN Staff: As Belize continues to grapple with COVID-19, the deaths of our citizens continue unabated with 5 more COVID-19 deaths recorded on Tuesday, 3 from the Corozal district and 2 from the Stann Creek district. Four (4) of the victims are males and 1 is a female; the range in age is from 53 to 91 years.

These 5 deaths add to the record of 18 deaths reported over the last 4 days (since Friday last week) due to complication related to COVID-19. A total of 125 individuals are now dead due to COVID-19 and this represents a case fatality rate of 2.34%.

The good news is that there were two deliveries to mothers who are COVID-19 positive. Both deliveries occurred at the Punta Gorda Hospital and the Director of Health Services report that “both females and their newborns are doing okay”.
