By BBN Staff: The United States Embassy in Belize had suspended the issuance of tourist visas for the United States of America early this year.

However, in an interview on Tuesday, Chargé d’ Affaires, Keith Gilges indicated that tourist visas may resume in February 2021.

Gilges said that February 2021 it is the tentative date but the embassy continues to facilitate visas on emergency basis.

“There was a group of Belizean students who were going to Taiwan, our other great partner, and a number of them didn’t have transit visas. So, we said absolutely that is the sort of thing we are going to prioritize,” Gilges explained.

On March 16, 2020, the Embassy canceled the routine immigrant and nonimmigrant visa appointments.
