92 new cases of COVID-19 identified; Cayo district has most new cases

By BBN Staff: There seems to be no end in sight for the current surge in new COVID-19 cases being detected in Belize. A total of 317 samples were processed on Thursday using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) template and 92 were positive for COVID-19. The Cayo district had 28 of the 92 new cases and the Corozal district had 19. The Belize district followed close behind with 18 of the new cases.

The detailed distribution of the 92 new cases is as follows:

Corozal – 19 (6 Corozal Town, 2 Santa Clara, 2 Cristo Rey, 2 Patchakan, 2 Consejo, 1 Xaibe, 1 San Roman, 1 Copper Bank, 2 from OW Town)

Orange Walk: 10 (5 Orange Walk Town, 2 San Jose, 1 August Pine Ridge, 1 Guinea Grass, 1 San Pablo)

Belize -18 (4 Belize City, 5 Ladyville, 1 Mahogany Heights, 1 Burrell Boom, 1 Willows Bank, 4 San Pedro, 1 from OW Town, 1 from San Narciso CZ)

Cayo – 28 (8 Belmopan, 3 San Ignacio, 4 Santa Elena, 1 Benque Viejo, 2 Bullet Tree Falls, 2 Cotton Tree, 1 Roaring Creek, 1 St. Matthews, 1 San Antonio, 1 Esperanza, 1 La Gracia, 1 from Ladyville BZ, 1 from Mahogany Heights BZ, 1 from Hopkins SC)

Stann Creek: 7 (1 Placencia, 2 Pomona, 2 Santa Rosa, 1 from Bella Vista TOL, 1 from Santa Cruz TOL)

Toledo – 10 (5 Punta Gorda, 2 San Marcos, 2 San Antonio, 1 Big Falls)

There were 35 recoveries today, leaving 2,363 or 42.8% of cases active. A total of 3,021 patients have recovered to date from the virus.
