New measures for COVID-19 announced

By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Health and Wellness today announced new measures to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.

The Minister of Health and Wellness, Michel Chebat after consultations and on the advice of the Belize Cabinet approved the following recommendations:

Surveillance and testing capacities will be improved with an upscale of rapid tests, hiring of additional health professionals staff.

In addition, active surveillance with the Ministry of Health teams at private businesses.

Testing sites will be established outside of hospitals in urban communities.

In terms of capacity for hospitals, the Ministry plans to acquire additional medical equipment and supplies.
