Taxi driver shot and killed inside his vehicle in Belize City last night

By BBN Staff: A taxi driver was shot and killed in Belize City last night.

According to police, yesterday around 10:55 pm acting upon information received, they visited Flamboyant Street in Belize City where they observed a red taxi car inside a drain.

Inside the vehicle on the driver’s seat, they discovered the motionless body of Erwin Fredrick Castillo,37, a taxi driver of #7387 Antelope St Ext., Belize City suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to the body.

Initial investigation revealed that last night around 10:50 pm, Castillo was driving his red taxi on Flamboyant Street heading towards Mahogany Street and upon reaching in front of # 5 B Flamboyant Street someone came out of a yard and fired shots in his direction causing the fatal injuries.

The scene was processed and thereafter the body was transported to the KHMH where he was pronounced dead at 12:40 am by Dr. Mayen.

Authorities are investigating.
