By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Education, Culture, Science, and Technology, is intervening on behalf of the University of Belize (UB) students who are in arrears with the school, so they can still sit their final exams.
The Ministry sent a letter to UB’s President, Professor Emeritus Clement Sankat, requesting his consideration to allow those students in arrears to sit their finals. The letter notes that those students attended their classes and it would be unfortunate for them to be unable to sit the exams.
“Under the current difficult times of economic and COVID hardships, we implore of you to revisit the Boards’ decision and make the necessary allowances. It is hoped that this request will be honored, given that we do not want students to fall back in their studies during this situation,” the Ministry said.
The deadline for the final payment of outstanding tuition balances was set for Monday, November 30.
