By Aaron Humes: Newly elected Prime Minister of Belize, John Briceño said in a video message that he was “lucky” to be asymptomatic, but not happy to be separated from his family.
He also noted that some of his colleagues are also infected and that other people he knows have suffered greatly and some have died.
So he looks forward to being let out of isolation when the doctors say so, but even then, new rules will allow him to continue to work from home if necessary.
He called on Belizeans to adopt healthier lifestyles, pointing out that those who eat healthy and exercise are at lesser risk for COVID-19 and underlying conditions that exacerbate it than those who don’t.
In addition to Briceño, Cabinet members with the disease include Ministers Dolores Balderamos Garcia and Mike Espat and Cayo West representative Jorge Milin Espat. On the UDP side, John Saldivar posted on behalf of himself and his wife on social media days ago to say they were recovering at home.
