Belize Defence Force officers complete 1st military international flight in 10 years!

By BBN Staff: Today, the Belize Defence Force Air Wing extended congratulations to Captain Francis Usher, Captain Ciardi Glenn and Sergeant Kevon Gongora for successfully completing the first military international flight to Toncontin International Airport in Tegucigalpa, Honduras on November 28th, 2020.

The BDF Air Wing had not conducted an international military flight in over 10 years.

Additionally, no BDF pilot had ever landed at Toncontin International Airport which is rated as one of the top 5 most dangerous airports in the world.

The BDF says that the success of the crew demonstrates the professionalism and capabilities of our BDF Air Wing pilots as well as our engineers.

The crew conducted the flight in the BDF BN-2B Defender and successfully returned to Belize with four Belizeans currently on a 4 year scholarship in Honduras.

The BDF said that success of the military flight can also be attributed to the recent forging of an invaluable relationship with Honduras and paves the way for future military partnerships, to include more scholarships for young aspiring Belizeans.
