Belize Met Service: Cold front coming

By BBN Staff: The National Meteorological Service of Belize (Belize Met Service) says that a cold front will cross the country later today.

The 24-hour forecast calls for cloudy spells this morning becoming increasingly cloudy this afternoon and tonight. Showers and thunderstorms will be isolated except for a few more inland at first, increasing along with periods of rain over most areas this evening and tonight.

“A flood warning remains in effect for communities near rivers, streams, creeks, and waterways in central and western parts of the country, as well as for communities downstream the Rio Hondo River in the north,” the Met Service said.

Today’s temperature highs will range from 86 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, to 88 degrees Fahrenheit inland, and 82 degrees Fahrenheit in the hills. Tonight’s temperature lows will range from 72 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, to 65 degrees Fahrenheit inland, and 62 degrees Fahrenheit in the hills.

Winds will be blowing East between 5-10 knots, and the sea state will be slight-light chop.

 “A small craft warning goes into effect this evening,” the Met service added. 

High tide will come in at 10:27 a.m. and low tide will begin at 3:39 p.m.

The sun will set at 5:16 p.m. and the moon will rise at 5:40 p.m.
