By BBN Staff: The Caribbean has seen it’s youngest death related to COVID-19 this week, as a six-day-old baby died from the virus.
The child was one of two deaths recently reported in Guyana.
Following the tragic incident, Guyana’s Health Ministry issued a statement expressing its condolences.
“The MOH expresses sincerest condolences to the family of the deceased and will make every effort to provide all the necessary support during this difficult time to render any assistance needed,” a statement from the Ministry of Health said.
Globally, COVID-19 has killed 1,469,695 people, with 144 Belizeans forming a part of that total.
In Belize, the youngest COVID-19 patient to die from complications relating to the virus was a six-year-old boy, with preexisting conditions.
