By BBN Staff: Sixteen people have died from complications relating to COVID-19 in the past three days, raising the number of deaths nationally to over 160, according to the latest data released by the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
Belize had ended the month of November with 148 COVID-19 deaths, but the new data, released today, December 3, showed that deaths have gone up to 164.
The country’s fatality rate for COVID-19 has gone up to 2.26.
The latest reporting format has removed the section where deaths were sorted by sex, but notably, in the last report issued in the previous format, dated November 30, males had accounted for 101 deaths or 68.2 percent of the total at that time. Males have also been consistently dying more from the virus than women since the pandemic arrived in Belize back in March.
