CXC still working on grade reviews from 2020 examinations

Posted: Monday, December 7, 2020. 7:56 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) has again postponed a media briefing following its annual governance meetings to next Monday, December 14.

In the meantime, it released a statement from its headquarters in Bridgetown, Barbados, saying it continues its work to complete queries and requests for reviews to finalize grades in this year’s Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) July/August examinations.

CXC says it has been busy reviewing borderline cases, particularly single grade changes, and grades in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects. It plans to complete a thorough and speedy review “shortly” and adds that while it understands and sympathizes with affected students, parents, teachers and Ministry officials, especially due to COVID-19, it is working at its fastest and best and requests their continued patience.

CXC will provide a further update next week, via a media briefing.
