Fireman shot dead at work; one suspect sought

By Aaron Humes: Police are looking for a suspect in Friday’s shooting killing of firefighter Rudolph Matura, 29, at his work place, the Punta Gorda Town Fire Station.

Matura was shot twice, apparently from through the window, about 20 minutes after reporting to work on Friday evening.

A motive has not yet been determined, though police are looking into a report made a month ago in which he was beaten up. Matura later withdrew the complaint.

There is no indication that Matura was followed to his work place.
