Mechanical problem behind truck accident with wooden home

Posted: Monday, December 7, 2020. 7:27 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Police continue to investigate Sunday’s mishap involving a ten-wheeler truck and a wooden home in San Ignacio Town.

Driver Ervin Torres told police he suffered mechanical problems that caused him to lose control of the truck, which ran into the home of Julie Magalie. The elevated wooden home was severely damaged but its occupants, Julie and her young sons, sustained minor injuries.

Police have not ruled out speeding as a factor though the incident took place in town limits, but there was no sign of alcoholic consumption on Torres’ part.

The company for whom Torres drove, which police say was contracted to move goods and materials on behalf of another company, says they will compensate the family.
