American national dies mysteriously while drinking outside restaurant

By BBN Staff: Police are investigating the strange sudden death of an American national that occurred in Belize City last night.

Reports are that Robert Michael Montano, 70, was having a drink while sitting on a bench in the yard of Good Fortune Restaurant located on Blue Marlin Drive sometime in the afternoon.

A police officer found him on the same bench shortly after 8:00 p.m. and realized he wasn’t moving. Montano was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Police say there was no sign of physical violence and that they do not know if he was suffering from any health conditions as he has no relatives in Belize.

Checks at his home also revealed that he lived alone.

A post mortem examination is pending.
