Posted: Thursday, December 10, 2020. 1:44 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Channel Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) of Belize and 2 co-defendants have been ordered to pay up to $15.8 million to Dish Network for which they allegedly supplied Dish programs illegally, Law 360 reports.

A Florida judge gave the order in an agreed judgment on Tuesday.

That agreement also includes a permanent injunction barring the defendants from certain activities that were the subject of Dish’s complaint.

Dish sued CBC and Robert Reich claiming that the company operates an illicit television service acquiring Dish’s satellite broadcasts of TV programming in the US and retransmitting the programming without any authorization.

In an amended complaint, Carol Reich was added as a defendant.

The defendants claim that the corporation was formed under the laws of Belize and has no operations in the state of Florida, where the case was heard.

The order handed down noted that the defendants cannot operate any website, business or service, or trafficking in any technology, product, service, device, component, application, passcode, access credential, or part thereof, that is primarily of assistance in the unauthorized reception” of that content.
