By BBN Staff: Recently, the John Briceno administration announced the appointment of Amilin Mendez as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in the Ministry of Economic Development.

Sources inside the UDP informed BBN that Mendez served in the women’s arm of the party and some were concerned that she may have jumped ship and as such were pushing for her expulsion from the party.

In a press conference held yesterday by Leader of the Opposition, Patrick Faber, he confirmed that Mendez is a UDP supporter and served as a senior project officer in his former Ministry of Education.

“Amilin Mendez is a UDP. I think it shows tremendous goodwill on the part of the prime minister to appoint a UDP CEO. I don’t think that sat very well with his government. I am told that there are people who are kicking over at the party. But yes, she is a member of the UDP now,” Faber confirmed.

In addition, Faber said that before accepting the position, Mendez reached out to him for advice.

Faber also reminded that the UDP had appointed now, Chief of Staff of the Government, Stuart Leslie to work in government.

“So why you behaving like this is something strange? Prime Minister knows good talent when he sees it and good talent is in the UDP,” Faber added.
