By BBN Staff: Today the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) joined with members of the public in mourning the loss of twin brothers Dr. Kevin Guerra and Dr. Kenneth Guerra, who both died recently from complications relating to COVID-19.
In a statement issued earlier, Health Minister Michel Chebat noted that Dr. Kevin Guerra had been working with the ministry for five years and had been posted at the Independence Polyclinic, while Dr. Kenneth Guerra had been with the Ministry for three years and was at the San Ignacio Community Hospital.
“They were appreciated and admired by their patients and colleagues and will be greatly missed by the communities they served,” the MOHW said. ” The Ministry offers thoughts and prayers to all healthcare workers and all persons who are fighting the battle against this deadly virus. The Ministry of Health and Wellness offers its deepest condolences to the families of Drs. Kevin and Kenneth Guerra. They served their patients and country well.”
The Ministry also called on all Belizeans to visit the nearest flu clinic for testing and medical management if they are experiencing signs or symptoms of COVID-19 or call the hotline number 0-800-MOH-CARE (0-800-664-2273). The MOHW advised anyone experiencing difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, or chest pain while in isolation or quarantine, to seek medical attention immediately.
