By BBN Staff: Dion Guiterres, who was arrested and charged last week with possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply following an incident in which 60 pounds of marijuana was found in a crashed vehicle in Ladyville, has been granted bail in the sum of $20,000.
According to reports, last Wednesday Ladyville police got a tip about a red Volkswagen car carrying a large amount of drugs. When officers at the checkpoint spotted the vehicle matching the description they attempted to stop it but the driver sped off and fled the scene.
Sometime later the car was found crashed in some bush and several parcels of weed totaling 60 pounds were found nearby. Following police investigations, Guiterres was arrested and charged and despite the prosecution objecting to bail, Magistrate Stephanie Gillet approved bail with conditions.
Guiterres is not allowed to travel and must report to the police station once a week according to the terms of his bail. His next court appearance is in February 2021.
