By Aaron Humes: Minister of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries Kareem Musa has handed over a donation of personal protective equipment (PPE) to the Central Prison at Hattieville, managed by the Kolbe Foundation.
The national correctional facility had just got through an outbreak of COVID-19 which sickened more than 100 prisoners and staff.
The Minister thanked the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the Government of Canada for the donation.
He said: “For us at the Ministry, the donation of PPEs is a timely and warmly humane one. We recognize and appreciate this donation to the Kolbe Foundation and the Belize Central Prison. It touches on the reminder that the call to be safe and the reach of the threat of this pandemic requires that we support each other to get past this virus. We have an added duty to the vulnerable populations and to our people no matter where they are in the country or their stock and station within it.”
