Keith Gilges and Office of Security Cooperation Chief Major Matthew Adams delivered COVID-19 specific response equipment and supplies valued at over U.S. $37,000 to Belize’s National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) at the Price Barracks in Ladyville, Belize District.
Gilges stressed that “As the world continues to battle the threat of COVID-19 together, the United States is doing our part to help our Belizean friends and neighbors. These supplies will be used to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in Belize. We remain deeply committed to supporting organizations like NEMO in their efforts to deliver timely assistance to the people of Belize in emergencies, including those created by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Added Major Adams, “The United States Southern Command is proud to work diligently with the Government of Belize to provide medical equipment, supplies and other assistance to fight the spread of this virus…As partners, we will get through this pandemic together.”
The donations include cleaning supplies such as bleach, garbage bags, mops, brooms, disinfectant spray, and hand sanitizer, as well as gloves, masks, gowns, and face shields.
