By BBN Staff: The Belize Postal Service (BPS) announced today that the Santa Elena Post Office is temporarily closed to allow for sanitization after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.
The BPS said that staff members who came in direct contact with that co-worker were notified, and arrangements have been made for them to be tested. Those staff members have also been advised to self-isolate until their test results have come back, before either returning to work or heading into quarantine depending on the result.
“Therefore, the Belize Postal Service notifies the public that the Santa Elena Post Office will be closed; however, customers are advised to call 804-2049 for queries or visit the San Ignacio Post Office located at Hudson Street, San Ignacio Town to access postal services until further notice,” the BPS said.
The Postal Service also called on those wishing to access services at post offices countrywide to ensure that they follow all protocols for the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 that have been recommended by health authorities in order protect themselves, the staff at the post office, and other customers.
