Belize City remains COVID-19 hotspot with 35 new infections

By Aaron Humes: The national heat map for today, Thursday, shows a cooling down in the North as Corozal and Orange Walk Districts combined have 15 cases.

In contrast, the central districts of Belize and Cayo report 85 combined cases, including 35 in Belize City, most among all municipalities reporting today.

Corozal Town has three new cases; Ranchito, two; and Chan Chen and San Andres, one each.

Orange Walk Town has two cases as do Trial Farm and Douglas, while San Estevan and San Jose have one each.

In addition to Belize City’s 35 cases, the Kolbe Foundation reports 4, San Pedro Town six, and Hattieville and Ladyville one each.

Belmopan has nine new cases (capital center two, Las Flores three, Maya Mopan two, and San Martin two); Benque Viejo one, and San Ignacio/Santa Elena three. Villages with cases include Banana Bank (1); Camalote (2); Roaring Creek (2); San Antonio (1); St. Matthew’s (six); Teakettle (six); and Unitedville (1).

Down south, Dangriga Town has six cases; Hope Creek one, Independence one, Maya Center 2; San Roman 1, Santa Rosa 1, Seine Bight 1, and Swasey 2.

In Toledo, Bella Vista shows five cases, and there are one each in Punta Gorda Town, Big Falls, San Pedro Columbia, Santa Elena, and Silver Creek. Today’s death was also reported here.
