By BBN Staff: The search for Darwin Chavarria, 37, who had been reported missing since Wednesday, came to a gruesome end today, as police recovered his body around 8:30 a.m.
Police say Chavarria’s body was found on Water Hole Road in Punta Gorda Town, some 100 yards away from his vehicle, which was completely destroyed by fire. Chavarria’s hands were tied together and he had multiple gunshot wounds.
His disappearance on Tuesday raised concerns, as his common-law wife told police that she came home and did not see Chavarria but there were signs of a struggle. Those signs included a knocked over standing fan, scattered slippers, and the backdoor of the home damaged.
Police are investigating the matter.
