By BBN Staff: Canadian Travel News highlighted Belize this week as one of the “must-visit” destinations in 2021.
In an article published on Saturday titled “Great 2021 Offerings in Beautiful Belize,” the travel site stressed that travelers coming to Belize not only have great resorts to look forward to, but also the peace of mind that extensive work has been done to ensure that vacations are as safe of possible from COVID-19, due to the Belize Tourism Board’s Gold Standard Certification program.
“This destination has put downtime to good use and continues to deliver unspoiled natural splendor paired with comfortable and safe tours and accommodations,” Canadian Travel News said. “The Tourism Gold Standard Certification is a nine-point program set in place to ensure that hotels, restaurants, tour operators and relevant tourism businesses meet an enhanced level of health and safety standards to put travelers at ease while exploring the curiosities of Belize.”
The site also noted that there are several high-end accommodations scheduled to debut in 2021 which include: the Autograph Collection Alaia Resort in San Pedro which will be the first Marriott-branded property in Belize; the Caribbean Beach Cabanas’s La Cantina bar and restaurant in Placencia; and the Grand Baymen Gardens in San Pedro which is an addition to the Best Western Resorts in Belize, among others.
The BTB has been actively working on expanding Belize’s presence in the Canadian tourism market since early 2019. As Belize’s tourism sector tries to rebound from the massive downturn brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, increasing visitors from all countries that are regulars for Belize, as well as branching out into new markets will be vital.
