By BBN Staff: The latest COVID-19 update from the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) says that four more people have died from COVID-19 along with 70 newly-confirmed cases.
The MOHW’s data shows that, with the four new deaths, the national total went up to 220 and the country’s fatality rate has gone up to 2.18.
The 72 newly-confirmed infections came from a sample batch of 445 tests. Of the new cases, 29 of them are female and 43 are male.
There are another 87 suspected cases under investigation.
“The Ministry of Health and Wellness urges the public to become familiar and follow the new Quarantine (COVID19) Regulations which came into effect at midnight tonight. Please be responsible for yourself and others this Christmas season. Continue to wear a face mask properly in public, maintain consistent physical distancing, avoid social gatherings, and wash and sanitize hands often,” the MOHW said,
The Ministry also asked Belizeans to remain at home, unless conducting essential business.
