Death toll from COVID-19 continues to rise

By BBN Staff: Belize has lost another four people to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the latest update from the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW).

The MOHW’s data shows that as of today, December 21, 2020, the national total for deaths related to the virus is at 224, and the fatality rate has gone up to 2.21.

The Ministry’s data also showed that there were 50 newly-confirmed cases, which came from a sample batch of 658. The national total for confirmed cases has increased to 10,145, with the newly-confirmed cases.

Along with publishing the data, the MOHW also reiterated its call for Belizeans to cease non-essential travel and abide by the protocols established for the prevention of the spread of COVID-19.
